Exhibition Opening Program for On Location: Drawing the Outdoors

Join us for a special evening celebrating the opening of On Location: Drawing the Outdoors, in which you’ll journey to the 19th century, when European artists stepped outside the studio, explored locations on their walks and travels, and captured their experience in drawings and watercolors. What do their images tell us about working “on location”? Exhibition curators will discuss the techniques, logistical challenges, personal ambitions, and audience expectations that shaped landscape art of the time. Following the program, guests are invited to visit the exhibition on Level 3. This program will be livestreamed. To tune in, check back here soon. On Location features drawings by J. M. W. Turner, John Constable, Gustave Courbet, Edouard Manet, Berthe Morisot, Paul Cézanne, and Vincent van Gogh, among many others. The exhibition is on view from September 18, 2026 to January 17, 2027.
