Gallery Talk: Redlining and the Visual Culture of Suburbia

Join us to examine the relationship between suburban expansion and the history of redlining in the United States through postwar photography. Focusing on images of lawns, neighborhoods, and suburban development, this talk by marketing assistant and artist Krystle Brown explores how photography helped construct the visual mythology of the American Dream during the mid-20th century. This talk is offered in conjunction with the exhibition The Way We Never Were: The American Professional Photographers Collection, on view from August 29, 2026 to May 9, 2027.
