Join us for coffee and conversation with Joachim Homann, the Maida and George Abrams Curator of Drawings and curator of On Location: Drawing the Outdoors (September 18, 2026–January 17, 2027). In this engaging introduction to the exhibition, Homann will explore how 19th-century European artists found freedom, renewal, and creative inspiration in nature. On Location includes approximately 140 sketches, watercolors, and pastels by artists including J. M. W. Turner, Berthe Morisot, Paul Cézanne, and Vincent van Gogh. Homann will trace evolving ideas about landscape, environmental awareness, and artistic identity, offering fresh insight into why these reflections on the natural world continue to resonate today.
