Admission: Free
Hosted by CLASS ACTION, a national student movement organizing to transform higher education. Read more about us at The Nation, NYT, WSJ, The Guardian, and at our website. In a time of deep social division, we are unified by a conviction that universities can be engines of democratic revival and a commitment to fighting for that future. Join us Friday, October 16th, for the kick-off of our 3-day conference, which brings student organizers from around the country to mobilize around The Students' Compact, a new academic social contract that asks more of America's elite universities. Evening programming will feature: 5:00 - 5:45 pm - Student Presentation: Introducing The Students' Compact, a declaration of what elite higher education owes the public, written by the people these institutions are meant to serve. 6:00 - 7:00 pm - Plenary, led by Professor Danielle Allen: a discussion between higher education leaders on what elite institutions owe the public and whether those obligations are being met.
