The main goal of our class is to have fun and feel the joy of movement and expression. We also strive to build technical competence and an appreciation for Brazilian culture through music and dance. We start with a warm-up, work on technique and styling, and often learn a short combo. Samba is a rhythm and a dance that exudes equal parts beauty, spirituality, and resistance. Borne in Brazil from enslaved Africans, samba has spread to the mainstream and is now one of the country’s most famous exports.
