Gallery Talk: On Location: Drawing the Outdoors

Join us for a talk in the galleries of the special exhibition On Location: Drawing the Outdoors, where curator Miriam Stewart and conservator Penley Knipe will discuss the various materials used by landscape artists in 19th-century Europe. Led by: Miriam Stewart, Curator of the Collection, Division of European and American Art Penley Knipe, Philip and Lynn Straus Senior Conservator of Works of Art on Paper and Head of Paper Lab, Straus Center for Conservation and Technical Studies On Location: Drawing the Outdoors features drawings by J. M. W. Turner, John Constable, Gustave Courbet, Edouard Manet, Berthe Morisot, Paul Cézanne, and Vincent van Gogh, among many others. The exhibition is on view from September 18, 2026 to January 17, 2027. Funding for the exhibition and related programming was provided by the Stanley H.
