The goal of this class is to build technical competence through drills and choreographies as well as self-expression, musicality, fluidity, and stamina. This class prepares interested students for a variety of local performance opportunities. Samba is a rhythm and a dance that exudes equal parts beauty, spirituality, and resistance. Borne in Brazil from enslaved Africans, samba has spread to the mainstream and is now one of the country’s most famous exports.
