MAIN STAGE: Pedja Mužijević, piano | From Shadow to Spotlight

Edward M. Pickman Concert Hall, Longy School of Music, 27 Garden Street, Cambridge, MA

All the composers on this hour-long program were marginalized one way or another in their lifetime. Clara Schumann was a celebrated piano virtuoso, but she composed in an era when composition was considered a man’s job. Franz Schubert was only beginning to receive the public recognition when he died at the age of 31. Pianist Pedja Muzijevic weaves music and words into a program that crosses borders and styles and brings these overlooked artists and their stories back to life. Chapter 1 C.
