Jason Robinson’s Janus Orchestra | Blue Salience
Edward M. Pickman Concert Hall, Longy School of Music, 27 Garden Street, Cambridge, MA
Blue Salience is a kaleidoscopic sound journey inspired by and dedicated to the late Dr. Yusef Lateef, a towering figure in American music. Across 135 minutes and 13 pieces, Robinson maps striking, expansive sound worlds that defy simple categorization, ranging from jazz and modern classical music to irresistibly danceable grooves and heady abstraction. The 17-piece Janus Orchestra features leading figures in the jazz and creative music scenes of New York, Boston, and Lateef’s long-time home of western Massachusetts.
