About Loy Krathong Loy Krathong is one of Thailand’s most beautiful traditional festivals, celebrated annually during the full moon of the twelfth Thai lunar month. People traditionally float small, decorated baskets called krathongs on waterways to express gratitude to the water goddess, let go of negativity, and welcome happiness and new beginnings.
