Artist Talk: Enzo Camacho and Ami Lien

The 2026 Nancy Stephenson Nichols Memorial Lecture Join visual artists and Harvard alumni Enzo Camacho (A.B. ’07) and Ami Lien (A.B. ’09) as they share insights and developments into their practice as artistic collaborators. Working between New York, Berlin, and Manila, Camacho and Lien develop research-based, site-specific, and documentary projects to examine histories of labor, land, and resistance in the Philippines. Their research on the enduring influence of Alfonso Ossorio’s mural commission at the Chapel of St. Joseph the Worker on Negros Island has led them to investigate the sugar plantation landscape that grounds this historic site-specific artwork. In their ongoing engagement with Negros Island, the artists focus on the defiant forms of culture-making that emerge out of and in opposition to plantation violence.
